American Airlines To Launch 4 New Seasonal Routes From Charlotte

American Airlines has announced four new summer routes from its hub at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Flights to Jackson Hole (JAC), Bozeman (BZN), Calgary (YYC), and Spokane (GEG) will begin in June and will be operated during the peak summer season through early September.

While both Jackson Hole and Bozeman have been previously served from Charlotte, this expansion marks the first time American Airlines has operated to Calgary and Spokane from its North Carolina hub. The new routes offer passengers the chance to visit some of North America’s most famous summer outdoor playgrounds, including Banff National Park (Calgary), Yellowstone National Park (Bozeman), and Grand Teton National Park (Jackson Hole).


An increased network offering

As reported by WCNC, American Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Charlotte Hub Operations, Ralph Lopez Massas, shared his excitement at the new services, saying,

“At American, we continuously strive to provide an exceptional network that caters to our customers’ preferences. By adding direct flights from Charlotte, we are granting adventure seekers easy access to new mountain destinations. Our dedicated team is prepared to cater to an even larger customer base, as we proudly serve as Charlotte’s hometown airline.”

The service launch dates and frequencies are outlined below:

  • Jackson Hole – daily service from June 5th, operated by the Airbus A319
  • Bozeman – 1 x weekly service on Saturdays from June 8th, operated by the Boeing 737
  • Spokane – daily service from June 5th, operated by the Airbus A321
  • Calgary – 1 x weekly service on Saturdays from June 8th, operated by the Boeing 737

Both Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family aircraft form the backbone of American Airlines’ short-haul mainline fleet. According to the latest data from ch-aviation, the carrier’s fleet comprises 303 Boeing 737-800s, 59 373 MAX 8s, 133 Airbus A319s, and 218 A321s. These are in addition to a 141-strong widebody fleet consisting of Airbus A330s, Boeing 777s, and Boeing 787s.

Further expansion at Charlotte Douglas International Airport

The recently announced services form part of American Airlines’ ongoing expansion at its Charlotte fortress, which will continue throughout the year as the carrier adds additional new services. The oneworld member airline will fly to Tulum (TQO) from March 24th and to Vancouver (YVR) from June 5th.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a major hub for American Airlines, and after becoming one of the country’s busiest airports during the pandemic, fell slightly to tenth place in 2022, with more than 23 million passengers. Long-haul routes from the airport operated by American Airlines currently include London Heathrow (LHR), Frankfurt (FRA), Paris (CDG), and Madrid (MAD).
