When it comes to international travel, there are a lot of things that one needs to keep in mind in terms of visa and all kinds of process that goes into procuring the visa. For some countries the visa process is pretty smooth and hassle-free, and then for some, there is always that long wait and unending paperwork.
But for those who want to travel internationally, no amount of paperwork or waiting has stopped them from venturing out of our country and into new and unknown places.
Here we are going to explore some of the countries that are visited frequently by Indians, and how to apply for their visa.
For the USA, a business person or a tourist will need to get the B-1/B-2 Visitor Visa. The United States is one of the most visited countries in the world. The B-1 visa is for business visitors, while the B-2 visa is for tourists. One will have to fill out the DS-160 form online, pay the visa fee, schedule a biometrics appointment, and attend a visa interview at the designated U.S. embassy or consulate.
For the UK, if you are visiting the country for tourism purposes, you will need to get the Standard Visitor Visa. The applicant will have to first apply online, pay the visa fee, and attend a biometric appointment. As a part of the application process, there may also be an in-person interview.
If you are an Indian passport holder and wish to visit Canada, you will need to apply for the Tourist Visa. There is also the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), but that’s only for countries that do not require a visa to enter Canada. To apply, one has to submit an online form, pay the visa fee, and provide supporting documents.
The Schengen Visa is for the countries that are a part of the European Union. The Schengen Area includes various European countries, allowing travellers to visit multiple countries with a single visa. Applicants should apply at the embassy or consulate of the main destination. The process involves submitting required documents, paying the fee, and possibly attending an interview.
For Indians wishing to visit Australia, there is the Visitor Visa (subclass 600). This visa is for tourism, business, or visiting family. The applicant will have to apply online, pay the fee, and submit required documents. Biometrics and health examinations may be part of the process.
For Singapore, there is the Tourist Visa. Indian passport holders will have to apply for a Singapore Tourist Visa prior to the date of travel. Singapore is one of the most popular countries to visit in the world.
For Dubai or the United Arab Emirates (UAE), there is the visa-on-arrival. The cost of the visa-on-arrival is 120 AED. Dubai is a major business and tourist hub, and hence, it is one of the most favourite tourism destinations for many Indians.
For Malaysia, Indians are not required to obtain a visa, meaning, it is visa-free travel for Indians till December 2024. Rules may or may not change in future, but as for now, we have till December 2024 to enjoy this visa-free status.
For Indians, Thailand is offering a 30-day visa-free stay in the country. This policy came into being from November 2023 to May 2024. Hurry, there isn’t a lot of time left.
