Lady Cats Win Two on Road Trip

The Lawrence County Lady Wildcats picked up two district road wins but lost their second district game at Tullahoma over their past three games.

The 2-1 record in their district road swing leaves LCHS (8-9, 5-2) in second place in District 8-3A.

The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to host Marshall County Tuesday and play at Central Magnet Thursday to finish the regular season.

Nine Lady Wildcats scored in a game that saw them lead 13-12 after one period and 22-18 at halftime.

Cami Pigg and Jacie Scott led LCHS offensively in the first half and Laney Kate King scored all five of her points in the third period as they built their lead to 35-29.

It was the fourth period where Scott tossed in 8 points to provide the punch for the Lady Wildcats to pull away for the 15-point win.

Scott scored 15 points to lead all scorers, Kabry Tinin netted 7 points and Sophie Cole 6. Sadie Grace Cole, King and Pigg each scored 5 points, Keeley Frazier had 3 and Ryann Hughes and Jenna Johnston each scored 2 points.

The Lady Wildcats completed a season sweep of Franklin County Jan. 30, scoring a season-high in an 82-44 road win.

The Lady Wildcats took care of business early versus the Rebelletes, jumping out to a 39-27 lead at intermission before blowing the game open in the second half. 

Lawrence County connected on 11-of-24 shots from beyond the arc in the win with three different players raining in a trio of 3-pointers. 

Already leading by 20 points entering the final period, the Lady Wildcats outscored Franklin County 24-6 in the final frame en route to a 38-point win.

Lawrence County boasted five different players with double digit scoring and 10 total players entering the scoring column. 

Kabry Tinin led her team with 15 points including three perimeter shots. Laney Kate King also finished with three shots from downtown on pace to 14. Keeley Frazier’s trio of long range baskets led her to 11 points, while post Jacie Scott also scored 11. Ryann Hughes finished with 10 points. Cami Pigg, Sadie Grace Cole, and Emmaleigh Jaco contributed 5 points apiece. Sophie Cole scored four points, and Sophie Cook chipped in 2.

Franklin County was led by a game-high 22 points from Nakayjah Holman who finished an impressive 9-of-14 from the floor with two 3-point baskets.

A tight game that was tied going into the fourth fell in favor of the visitor thanks to 8 points fro their leading scorer Aly Melton.

Lawrence County led after the first period 13-11on the strength of two triples from Sadie Grace Cole and a trey from Laney Kate King.

Tullahoma fought back to take a 21-20 lead at half time with Cole draining two more 3 pointers for the Lady Cats.

Jacie Scott scored 8 points in the third period to pull the teams even at 29 apiece going into the fourth.

Lawrence County could not answer Melton’s  8 fourth period points that included 6-of-7 from the free thrown line.

Scott led all scorers with 18 points and Cole added 12. Tinin hit for 5, King 3 and Cami Pigg 2.

Melton led her team with 17.
