Patrick Warburton surprises Disney guests on Soarin’ Over California

by Staff

A group of Disney California Adventure Park guests were treated to one extra special Soarin’ Over California flight when actor Patrick Warburton, who stars in the attraction’s pre-recorded safety information video, made a surprise pit stop.

The actor — who has served as chief flight attendant on both Soarin’ and its later revamped version, Soarin’ Around the World, for more than 20 years now — shocked the crowd by appearing and personally delivering the safety spiel himself. And yes, he’s still got it.

“Welcome to Soarin’,” Warburton declared as the guests began to clap and cheer in excitement. “As I just mentioned, my name is Patrick. I will be your chief flight attendant today. Thanks for letting me acquaint you with some important safety information for all of these years.”

After making sure that “no one here has a fear of flying or heights,” Warburton welcomed passengers onto the ride. At one point, he pointed out a guest’s colorful Mickey Mouse ears before asking, “You know where to stow those little beauties?”

A true “safety first” king, Warburton then confirmed that everyone “pulled their yellow strap for their safety belts” before dropping a cheeky reference to his character Kronk from the 2000 Disney film The Emperor’s New Groove. “The safety belt for safety. The safety belt chosen especially to make guests safe. The guest safety belts.”

In a Disney Parks post, Warburton remarked that it’s “just magical to see how beloved Soarin’ Over California still is after all of these years.”

“I can remember my first trip to Disneyland at the age of 5, and I continue to be a huge Disney fan, so to be part of a Disney attraction that has lasted this long has just been such a sweet and wonderful thing for me,” he said. “Getting to surprise guests today was super fun, and it’s great to see the impact that this safety intro has made for the past 23 years and how people still love it. It was such a blast getting to be the chief flight attendant for Soarin’ Over California once again!”

The ride has returned for a limited time as part of Disney California Adventure’s Food & Wine Festival, and will continue to fly guests around several scenic California landmarks until April 22.
