CARBONDALE, Ill. AND SPRINGFIELD, MO – The Illinois State volleyball team (11-16, 9-6 MVC) will hit the road once more this weekend, as the ‘Birds travel to take on Southern Illinois and Missouri State.
First serve between the Redbirds and the Salukis is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, while Saturday’s contest against the Bears is slated for 5 p.m.

The 2023 MVC regular season is winding down as there are only three more matches left on the schedule for all Valley programs, including this weekend.
Heading into this weekend, Illinois State sits tied for fourth (alongside UIC) at 9-6 in Valley play while Southern Illinois sits sixth at 8-7 and Missouri State is eight at 7-8.
Illinois State is one win or a Belmont loss away from locking up a spot in the upcoming MVC Championships, hosted by Missouri State from Nov. 19-22.

Illinois State head coach Allie Matters earned her 100th career win as a college head coach in thrilling fashion as she led the Redbirds to a five-set victory (25-22, 25-27, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12) over Bradley on Oct. 16 inside CEFCU Arena.
Illinois State sophomores Aida Shadewald and Emily Weber turned in an unforgettable performance versus Murray State on Oct. 14, as Shadewald would finish with a career-high 23 kills while Weber amassed 47 assists as part of ILS’ sweep of the Racers.
Shadewald’s 23 kills are tied for eighth-most in a three-set match while Weber’s 47 assists are tied for seventh-most in a three-set match this season across NCAA Division I VB.
