by Staff

The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team continues its current four-game road trip with its second stop of three in the Land of Lincoln with a visit to SIUE on Saturday, Feb. 3. Tipoff from First Community Arena is slated for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Skyhawks (8-12, 5-4 OVC) got the road stretch started off on the right foot after picking up a big win at Eastern Illinois on Thursday evening by a final score of 80-65. UT Martin shot 53.4 percent from the field and cashed in on nine three-pointers on the way to the double-digit victory.

The tandem of Anaya Brown and Kenley McCarn continued their hot stretch of play as the pair combined to score 46 points. Brown torched the Panthers once again, following up a 25-point performance back in January with 24 points, five rebounds and six steals in the road win. Meanwhile, McCarn posted her second straight 20-point outing with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists.

SIUE (4-18, 1-8 OVC) picked up its first conference win of the season and snapped a eight-game losing streak after knocking off defending league champion Little Rock on Thursday evening by a 67-61 margin. The Cougars are led offensively by Sofie Lowis who tosses in 11.4 points per game while leading the team with 47 three-pointers made on the season. Meanwhile, three other players sit just outside of the double-digit plateau with Macy Silvey (9.9 ppg), Molly Sheehan (9.0 ppg) and Ava Stoller (9.0 ppg) posing a threat offensively.

Saturday’s contest marks the lone meeting between UT Martin and SIUE this season in an unbalanced 18-game league slate. The two programs have met 34 times previously with the Skyhawks holding a 24-10 series advantage – including a sweep during the 2022-23 campaign.

The contest will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+ while local listeners can tune into the Skyhawk Sports Network to hear Chris Brinkley (play-by-play) and David Williams (analyst) call the action live from courtside. Games are broadcast on WCMT “Talk and News You Can Use!” with simulcasts on 1410 AM, 100.5 FM, 92.7 FM, 96.1 FM, 99.7 FM and 103.3 FM.
