The converted horse box nestled in the Kent countryside that’s perfect for a getaway like no other

This joyful place for a romantic weekend away in Kent is perfect to reconnect with your partner as you will certainly be up close and personal. They do say the best things come in small packages, and this sweet little gem of a place to stay, described by one happy couple who stayed there as “very cool”, is certainly perfectly formed.

Hattie the Horse Box is a delightful way to spend a mini-break and she is in such a good location, you will be spending plenty of time outdoors. This is a unique glamping experience in a converted vintage horse box which sleeps two and is nestled in the countryside with the most stunning views.



And you will be amazed at what’s inside. There is an open-plan living space, and a fire pit which can be used as a barbecue and there is even a hot tub and a fully-furnished shed in which to unwind.

It has a galley kitchen, dining table, sofa and even a cosy ‘wood burner effect’ electric stove. The horsebox is within the owner’s 13 acres of land and from here you can explore the beautiful village of Hawkhurst, which is only a five minutes’ walk – and has shops, supermarkets, a couple of local pubs, and a Kino cinema.

The coast is only 18 miles away, and East Sussex is close by, so plenty of places to visit. There is also the magnificent Bedgebury National Pinetum, which is perfect for forest walks and exploring any time of the year, and only four-and-a-half miles away.

You could even take part in the Bedgebury Pinetum Parkrun which is every Saturday at 9am. If you aren’t familiar with a Parkrun, it is free and friendly and is a community 5K. You can walk or jog or run fast, it is up to you. But you will need to register before you do it.

Other stunning places to visit are the National Trust’s Sissinghurst Castle, which is seven miles away, and Tunbridge Wells, with its superb range of independent shops along with familiar brands, restaurants, pubs and parks, is 16 miles away.

And there are vineyards to explore, Biddenden, which is under nine miles away, and Chapel Down, under 13 miles away. They make lovely afternoon visits, with wine tasting and tours.

“The main area is ideal for relaxation with a plump sofa, wood burner-effect electric stove, radio and DVD for playing films on the mini screen. For dining, there’s a gate-legged table with two chairs that fold away for efficiency.

“There’s more relaxation space outside in the open-fronted shed that’s a great place to relax or stargaze with a wicker sofa, coffee table and charming decors like the rug and bunting.

“You’ll also find lawned and gravelled areas kitted out with a garden table and chairs, sun loungers, a fire pit/BBQ and a Lay-Z-Spa hot tub. Enjoy all alongside those vast, tranquil, rural views.”

Note, there is private parking for two vehicles. But no dogs are allowed.
