The Most Romantic Luxury Getaways

by Staff

“Going over the top” to impress a special someone every February 14 is a relative concept. Jet-setters know the world’s top luxury tourist destinations strive to offer unique experiences, but chasing the coolest place someone else has never visited requires a discerning palate whenever a dash of romance is involved.

Here are 10 of this year’s best Valentine’s Day packages ― anywhere, at any price.

Diamonte Jets

Being swept off your feet never felt this good. Diamonte has partnered with Hotel Shangri-La in Paris for an unparalleled romantic trip to Paris by private jet. After a chauffeured ride to the VIP airport terminal of your choice, a VIP “travel tailor” will arrange roses, chocolates, champagne, and any other accoutrements of your choice on board the plane. Round-trip prices from London start from $31,900 in the Challenger 605 (pictured), or $8,000 in a smaller Diamond Jet aircraft. New York to Paris round-trip begins at $135,000 on a heavy jet (like the Challenger 605). From Los Angeles’ Van Nuys airport, the starting price is $155,000 round-trip. The nightly rate for the Duplex Suite at the Shangri-La Hotel starts at $3,600.

“Shangri-La are renowned for their commitment to world-class hospitality and levels of service, and their property in Paris is no exception,” said Rohan Mark Jayawardene, CEO of Diamante Jets. “Coupled that over half the rooms and suites have a direct view of the Eiffel Tower and River Seine, the property makes for the most romantic of stays in the city.”

Indeed, those prices do buy something extra. A private viewing of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, a private cruise along the River Seine, closed VIP shopping experiences at Hermes and/or lunch at The Jules Verne on the Eiffel Tower can be arranged.

Onefinestay – The Grande At Casteel Creek – Vail, CO And Beaver Creek

In the stunning snow-topped trees of the Colorado Rockies, The Grande at Casteel Creek (from $9,631 per night) is a soaring showstopper of a mansion tucked away for deep privacy and relaxation. Your valentine will appreciate the fine amenities among seclusion: a widescreen movie theater, ranch-style saloon bar, game room, hibachi table and ice cream parlor. There’s also a fully equipped gym, indoor/outdoor pool and a solarium with a message bed.

The 35,000-foot compound is surrounded by 457 private acres in Vail Valley, bordering roughly 2 million acres of National Forest land ― the perfect vacation setting for indoorsmen and outdoorsmen alike.

Mohonk Mountain House – The Catskills, NY

Snuggle in for a full week of romance or even just a weekend at Mohonk Mountain House, uniquely situated in the Catskills of New York along Mohonk Lake. Choose from the Couples’ Romantic Getaway (Feb. 9-11) and the Romance Week (Feb. 12-16) ― the perfect escape for hiking, unique nature walks, indoor ice skating and sitting by a roaring fireplace while overlooking the lake or taking in a luxurious, long spa treatment. The spa and salon menu includes 80 services, in addition to mindfulness and meditation sessions in a tranquil, natural setting.

The Valentine’s Day offers include daily meals, most activities, crafts and games, and cocktail tastings. A huge draw to Mohonk Mountain House are the rooms, which do not have televisions ― a huge plus for detaching from your daily rigors to focus on the one you’re with. Nightly rates start from $849.

Wequassett Resort & Golf Club – Cape Cod, MA

Shower your loved one in diamonds and gold this Valentine’s Day with one of the lush waterfront celebration packages from Wequassett Resort & Golf Club. The Sydney Evan X Wequassett Seaside Package (from $8,350) includes a three-night stay in the Round Cove Suite, Sydney Evan Diamond Sea Life Charm Necklace, a 50-minute plane tour of Cape Cod for two and facial and massage for two and more. The Sydney Evan X Wequassett Cape Cod package (from $4,956) includes a two-night stay in a signature suite and the Sydney Evan’s limited-edition diamond and gold “Cape Cod” script necklace among the five-star package.

A Forbes Travel Guide verified luxury hotel, the Wequassett once hosted a star-studded Forbes Travel Guide party including celebrity guests Sharon Stone, Cindy Crawford, and Quincy Jones. Your basic instinct will be to stay forever.

The St. Regis – Washington, D.C.

One of the most iconic and storied hotels in Washington, D.C. is also one of the most romantic. From the two-tiered grand chandelier entrance, to the ornate Florentine gold ceilings that every Hollywood icon, world leader and royal has looked upon, guests are instantly swept up in the hotel’s decadent history. From its origins in 1926, the St. Regis became D.C.’s go-to hotel for the wealthy and well-connected. Its location ― steps from The White House and all of the museums and monuments on the National Mall ― doesn’t hurt.

Book an overnight and join fellow guests in the lobby at 6 p.m. for the champagne sabering ritual, followed by dinner in the breathtaking Alhambra restaurant for the “Forever Starts Tonight” package (Feb. 9-18; starting at $499 per couple), a 4-course tasting menu with roses, candles, balloons and two glasses of Piper-Heidsiek Rose Sauvage. Valentine’s Day Afternoon Tea is available on Wednesdays through Sundays (Feb. 7-18, $99 per person).

Alisal Ranch – Santa Ynez Valley, CA

In the heart of Santa Barbara wine country sits one of its most romantic destinations, Alisal Ranch, a luxury dude ranch in the hills of the Santa Ynez Valley. The “Romance at the Ranch” package (Feb. 13-15; starting at $1,235 per night) is a two-night package that includes special activities such as a Valentine’s Equus Workshop, archery, air rifle, dance class and in-room amenities including flowers, chocolates and sparkling wine by your cozy in-room roaring fireplace.

The 10,000-acre resort property includes a 100-acre lake ― perfect for two-person pedal boating by day and lakeside dining by night. Established in 1804 (it’s been a guest ranch since 1946), Alisal Ranch has lived long enough to channel the spirit of the Old West and the Hollywood westerns it inspired.

Auberge du Soleil – Napa Valley, CA

A Forbes verified luxury property, Auberge du Soleil is offering the Rendezvous for Romance Package: a two-night stay and a $200 resort credit for an in-room 3-course menu from The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil. The Michelin-star restaurant has a quintessential perspective: a California-inspired menu overlooking the mountains and vineyards of wine country. Also included is a 20% discount at the spa and welcome bottle of Auberge Cabernet Sauvignon.

Over Valentine’s Day guests can enjoy nightly Aperitif Hour at La Plage, an adults-only pool, and complimentary courtyard wine tastings from 3-6 p.m. “Winter in wine country offers an ideal setting for a romantic rendezvous,” said Bradley Reynolds, managing director at Auberge du Soleil. “The quieter season allows for a slower pace at wineries, providing more time for guests to personally connect with vintners, hear rich and fanciful stories of the valley, and, if you’re lucky, sample a few off-menu library vintages only available for the two of you.”

Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas – Las Vegas, NV

Romance is all about perspective. For some, the best way into their heart involves soaring above Nevada in a private helicopter. The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas has wrapped a nice Valentine’s Day experience with its “Natural Wonders” package: car service to and from the airport, where you’ll be whisked away in a private helicopter tour above the Las Vegas Strip, the Hoover Dam, and the Grand Canyon ― with a picnic lunch along the way. You’ll also receive a souvenir photo to show your friends who won’t believe you did any of it.

The accompanying two-night stay leaves time to experience the hotel’s Forbes Five Star Spa and Nail Bar. Ask for “Time for Two” in an exclusive Spa Dual Suite, where you and your pampered partner can enjoy side by side massages after your adventurous day in the air.

For $150,000, guests at The Peninsula Beverly Hills can indulge in the “Ultimate Valentine’s Day Sleepcation” during the month of February. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by a personal butler and escorted directly to the hotel’s largest accommodation, the two-story Peninsula Villa. With a grand foyer, sumptuous living area, elegant dining room and private patio with an intimate hot tub, the villa feels more like a mansion than an extension of a hotel.

The best part is the bed. Guests are chauffeured via Rolls Royce to Hästens Mattress’ Flagship Sleep Spa on Beverly Boulevard for a private sleep consultation to find their recommended firmness. Select the Hästens 2000T mattress with your desired firmness, and the bed will be discreetly placed in The Peninsula Villa for your first night’s sleep. Caviar and champagne breakfast in bed caps your stay in Beverly Hills ― but not your experience. Within a few days, guests will receive a new Hästens 2000T mattress and monogrammed Peninsula Frette sheet set at their home.

The Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection – Park City, UT

When you and your special someone need to unplug your devices and plug in to your energy, look no further than The Lodge at Blue Sky, a remote 3,500-acre private retreat in Utah’s Wasatch Mountain Range. Open since 2019, the newest property in the Auberge Resorts Collection takes a winking-third-eye approach to a romantic Valentine’s Day Package, inviting guests to slow down and forge meaningful connections with the land, themselves and their partners through intuitive treatments, healing ceremonies and energy journeys.

The Lodge’s new Edge Sanctuary is a private space perched on the bank of the Alexander Creek beneath the Edge Spa, designed to be a hidden haven for couples to perform energetic and vibrational healing, sound baths and readings away from the larger spa with an expert guide. The Edge Sanctuary also offers a new cold plunge experience and Scandinavian sauna for the wellness-minded couple. For a massage, Spa manager Bre Samek recommends The Couple’s Journey ― a $1,200, two-and-a-half-hour treatment: “The Couple’s Journey focuses on rejuvenation, nature and enhanced spirituality in a private setting for an entirely unique experience.”
