Fredericksburg is Yelp’s No. 1 family-friendly travel spot

by Staff

Yes, spring break just ended and the kids are back to school — at least until the summer — so obviously it is time to plan the next family vacation. There are plenty of fun places across the United States to take the family for some rest and relaxation. Still, if you’re the type of person to check out some reviews before planning a vacay then this Yelp ranking might be your best bet to enjoy Texas.

“In the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg offers small-town charm, just a drive away from bustling Austin and San Antonio,” the release reads.

From New Braunfels to Boerne, Fredericksburg hands down has the most wineries, but it still made the list as the best family-friendly town in the U.S. A winery noted in the article was the Pontotoc Vineyard Weingarten, which is great for families.

Texas Wine Country beat California’s Wine Country for the top spot. Napa, California, came in at No. 2 with Charlottesville, Virginia, earning the No. 3 ranking.

Want to educate your kiddos in between winery stops? Check out the Pioneer Museum or the National Museum of the Pacific War. Looking to spend time out in nature with the bluebonnets? Wildseed Farms is perfect for taking some time to smell the flowers with its acres of flowers. Want to really sweat it out in the area? Enchanted Rock might be a better stop for you and the family where you will get the best views of the Texas Hill Country.

On Main Street, there are plenty of antique shops, clothing boutiques, and tasty restaurants, or people could hang out in Marktplatz von Fredericksburg when your kids run around on the playground equipment while you check out the weekly Fredericksburg Farmers Market.

The ranking was conducted by finding trends in consumer searches by comparing the 2022 and 2023 searches for “family-friendly” in the United States. They compared the change in volume of a specific search query and the number of times per million searches the query was entered, the release said.

Fredericksburg is the only Texas town to make the list, so better luck next year, Blanco, New Braunfels, and Comfort.

The rest of the rankings were as follows: Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina (No. 4); Breckenridge, Colorado (No. 5); Burlington, Vermont (No. 6); Ithaca, New York (No. 7); Virginia Beach, Virginia (No. 8); San Luis Obispo, California (No. 9); and Salem, Oregon (No. 10).
