Construction is underway at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point — Disney Cruise Line’s newest private Bahamian island location.

Lookout Cay Construction

Spotted by MouseSteps.com, the Lookout Cay construction appears to be in line with much of the concept art Disney has revealed so far.

The pier extends a good distance out into the water.

The curved structures with holes in them sitting atop the buildings in this section look like what will eventually become Mabrika Cove, the guest arrival point for Lookout Cay. In Taino, the language of the indigenous people of The Bahamas, the Lucayans, “Mabrika” means “welcome.”

As you can see in the above concept art, this area will eventually be colorful and full of lush plant life.

Set to open for sailings beginning summer 2024, Lookout Cay is Disney Cruise Line’s second private island in The Bahamas, joining Disney Castaway Cay. Originally announced in 2019, with construction commencing in 2022, Lookout Cay is designed to “celebrate the natural beauty, traditions, and artistry of the one-of-a-kind nation.”

Positioned at the end of the island of Eleuthera, the destination will feature the Goombay Cultural Center — a Bahamian festival-inspired pavilion with music and parades. At Triton’s Trumpet Stage guests will find family entertainment. The island’s retail shop, Treasures of Eleuthera, will sell locally-made gifts and artisan crafts. Guests 18 years of age and older can enjoy Serenity Bay, a relaxing retreat that can also be found at Disney Castaway Cay. Here, guests will be treated to a tranquil beach experience with private cabanas.
