Pinhoti Trail: Road Trip to High Point TH

by Staff

Day: 29

Relax in the morning, eating the rest of my ice cream and some popcorn I bought. Then, around one, go to the trailhead and start hiking for six to seven miles.

Activities of The Day:

I ended up putting my feet up on the wall last night, stretching, and rolling the ball under my foot; when the ball fell onto the floor under the bed, I got the fantastic idea of rolling back and forth on my knees. That did wonders! Some things popped back into place, making my whole knee, calf, and foot feel better. Then I ate some popcorn and watched TicTok for about an hour, falling asleep around 3:30 and then waking around ten this morning.

I got ready for the day and went to the post office to send a few things home. I went to the steakhouse for lunch. They were closed! So, I ended up going back for more BBQ. I put my clothes in the dryer before going to the store for medical pain relief. When I got back to the Inn, the clothes were dry. I packed everything up and did the dishes, and right when I finished, my ride was there to take me to the trailhead.

I started hiking around 2:30. After sitting in the back of the old school Jeep, I put on my backpack and started my hike. This is the view from the top of the first mountain I climbed today.

Two hours later, I had caught up to the hikers that came in yesterday. They had started about 8:30 this morning and have gone 20 miles today. I only went for five and a half miles, but I stopped, set up my tent, ate, and then laid in my tent.

Start Point With Mileage of Today

I have messed up my sleeping bag! It is nowhere close to as warm as it was before washing it. The down needs to spread out again, so I will be fine. It will be a cold night(s) until that happens.

Oh! Do you see I have gone over 200 miles!

What’s Ahead:

Rain is called for all day tomorrow. As I type, the sprinkles are hitting my tent. It is going to be a wet couple of days. The forecast for the week is rain every day. I hope that does not happen, but I must hike through it if it does.

With the trail being as easy as it is to hike on and my body finally deciding to join me on the trek, I should be able to put some good miles out tomorrow.

Goals:

I’m looking to get twenty or more miles in tomorrow.

Stats:

Mileage of the day: 5
Mileage on Trail: 229/350
Days on Trail: 29
Number of Zero’s: 5
Number of Nero’s: 5
States: Alabama, Georgia
Trails completed:
The good: I was able to relax this morning, and then hiked for five miles.
The Bad: Rain in the forecast.
