Britons looking to visit Porto, Portugal now have more options as Jet2CityBreaks adds a selection of packages from Manchester and Birmingham airports.

This is part of the Discover More range which will allow customers and travel agents the chance to book the getaway starting from July this year.

The new Porto packages are already on sale and will travel from Manchester Airport in the summers of 2024 and 2025, and from Birmingham Airport for summer 2025.

The package includes a wine tour in the beautiful Douro Valley, where holidaymakers will sip on three local wines before enjoying a lunch and more wine samples.

Anyone who books the package will also enjoy a leisurely Rabelo boat cruise in Pinhão, allowing them to experience the Portuguese city in a unique way.

The announcement of new packages follows more routes to Porto recently announced by Jet2, which came off the back of huge demand for flights to the area.

Jet2 will run more routes from Manchester Airport to Porto starting in July this year, bringing forward routes originally planned for its 2025 schedule.

The flights will run every Thursday and Sunday until November 3, 2024, giving Britons the chance for a perfect sunny getaway. Porto typically enjoys temperatures in the mid to high 20s during the summer months, making it the perfect place to soak in the sun.

Visit Portugal explains some of the things tourists should not miss when visiting the city. It said: “In the words of many visitors, this city has something mystical that is difficult to describe and which varies according to the place, time of day and light.

“Whatever it is, it certainly has to do with its people, known to be generous and easy-going, as well as the River Douro and its heritage on both banks, with its bridges and monuments, the tiles, the flowering balconies and the shopping streets.

“The historic centre of Porto and the River Douro on the Gaia side, where the Port Wine lodges are located, are classified as World Heritage.”

Discover More packages give tourists adventure as they visit historical landmarks, immerse themselves in the local culture or soak in beautiful scenery. Other destinations in these packages include Iceland, Bergen, Turkey, the Fjords and Croatian cruises.

CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Steve Heapy said: “We are delighted to be announcing even more good news for our Porto programme and expanding our Discover More packages to the popular city break destination.

“We are seeing more customers wanting to experience it all on their holidays, whether that is adventure, culture, history or sightseeing, so this expansion of our Discover More collection is in direct response to that demand.

The best city for expats to move to is a “breathtaking” part of Estonia that “won’t disappoint”, according to those who have visited.
